Command and Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath
Install
Things work slightly differently with an expansion pack. We do not want to create a new wine instance in Lutris, as KW will not see the original game.
As before, copy the contents of the Kane’s Wrath DVD to your hard drive. (NOTE: Once installed, you do not need to keep this directory).
In Lutris select the ‘Command and Conquer 3’ entry you created above.
Click the wine icon at the bottom and select ‘Open wine console’.
In the console that opens, type ‘explorer.exe’.
In the file manager that appears, find the directory that contains the files you copied from the Kane’s Wrath DVD.
Double click on setup.exe
Install as per Windows
Once complete, close explorer.
In Lutris, right click on the Command and Conquer 3 entry and select ‘Duplicate’
Right click the new entry and click ‘Configure’.
Change the name so it’s obvious it’s the Kane’s Wrath expansion.
Click on the ‘Game options’ tab.
Change the Executable entry from CnC3 to the Kanes Wrath exe i.e. INSTALL_DIRECTORY/pfx/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Electronic Arts/Command & Conquer 3 Kane’s Wrath/cnc3ep1.exe
Click ‘Play’
Patch
This is pretty much identical to the instructions to the original game, with the difference being the exe you select to perform the patch. If you have the above working, you can now patch CnC3:KW to the latest version.
Click the wine icon at the bottom and select ‘Open wine console’
In the console that opens, type ‘explorer.exe’.
In the file manager that appears, find the patch file and double click.
No CD
This is a hell of a lot easier than patching, as all you need to do is replace an exe file. This can be done in your standard Linux file manager.
Patch Kane’s Wrath
Copy the no cd version of cnc3ep1.dat to the INSTALL_DIRECTORY/pfx/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Electronic Arts/Command & Conquer 3 Kane’s Wrath/RetailExe/1.2 directory (make a backup of the old one, if you wish).
All Set!
You should now be able to fire up Kane’s Wrath on Linux, all patched and with NoCD.
